- Engraving from an original drawing (artist named at the bottom left margin), used as a frontspiece of Scoresby's Account of the Arctic Regions, Vol.2. View of the back and tail of a whale in arctic seas, having tossed a ship's boat and its crew upside down above its back, with only one member of crew left clinging to inside of the boat. Other boats with harpooning crews gathered around the whale with lines attached to the dying whale. A whaling ship lies at anchor with sails to the right, with arctic icebergs and land across the left horizon, with further whales in the sea either side of the ship.
