- One-part baleen stay busk, slightly bent to the shape of a bodice, with decorated cross banding, image of a potted plant, chequering, a ten pointed star, and view of a full rigged ship. The reverse is decorated with birds flying over the humps of whales, and an iceberg. A busk is the rigid element of a corset at the centre front of the undergarment. They were intended to keep the corset straight and upright. Busks were often carved and decorate, or inscribed with messages, and were popular gifts from men ot their sweethearts.
