Brief Description:
Photographic negative with an image of the Hull steam trawler Lord Devonport (H273) moored at a dockside. The bow has been damaged, the result of a collision with an iceberg on 9th July 1927 during her first voyage to the Greenland seas. Built by Cochrane & Sons in 1926, the trawler ran aground and was wrecked off The Old Man of Hoy, Orkney Islands on 18th March 1928, with the loss of eight out of the fourteen crew. The photograph was taken by Harry Cartlidge in 1927. Part of the Cartlidge photographic collection.
