Roll of Honour World War One

World War One Roll of Honour

After the 1914-1918 war there was a great need to remember those who had served or died for their country. It was common for names to be listed on memorial boards, posters and plaques at various locations around villages, towns and cities, paid for by companies where they had worked, churches, or by voluntary donations. As part of the 2014 World War One exhibition at the Ferens Art Gallery a small selection of these memorials were chosen and the names listed.

Those included are as follows:

Anlaby Road Wesleyan Church
Needlers
D.M. Stevenson & Company
Ellerman's Wilson Line
Ellerman's Wilson Line
Hull & Barnsley Railway

Copies of Anlaby Road Wesleyan Church, Needler's and D.M. Stevenson can be viewed below. Hull & Barnsley Railway and Ellerman's Wilson Line can be viewed by going back to COLLECTIONS PROJECTS and clicking on the relevant list.

If you have any information that may assist the museum service in either identifying the individuals on the list, or other background details, please contact us at museums@hullcc.gov.uk or telephone 01482 613902.
