- Scale Lane from Silver Street drawn by Frederick Schultz Smith (1860-1925), 1889. This drawing shows the west end of Scale Lane and the northern end of Market Place. Scale Lane divides Lowgate and Market Place. the address of G M Hart, hatter, on the left was 43 Lowgate; that of Mouat & Co., tea merchant on the right was No. 1 Market Place. Next door at No 3 is the premises of the brewers, Samuel Allsopp & Sons Ltd. Ink and wash on paper. Signed and dated bottom left.
