- Drawing of Albion Street with the Royal Institution, from Percy Street, by Frederick Schultz Smith (1860-1925), about 1885. Streetscene depicting Albion Street with a row of Georgian buildings on each side. The Royal Institution building on the right has a classical-style facade with columns and the figure of Minerva, roamn godess of wisdom, above the portico. The Hull Literary and Philosophical Society was formed in 1822 and moved into this newly-built building in1855. They occupied the east end of the building, Subscription Library the west. Tramlines run up the centre of the road and a tram is visible in the distance. Ink and wash on paper. Signed bottom left conrer.
