Hull General Infirmary, Prospect Street by Frederick Schultz Smith (1860-1925), about 1884. Shows the front of the building with railings in front. Two people (a female servant and a gentleman) are talking in the driveway and a woman is stood looking through the railings. An inscription across the top front of the building states 'Supported by Voluntary Contributions'. Decorative columns are down the front of the building with a clock in the centre above an arch. There is a statue in the grounds and a lamppost in the foreground. The infirmary building was built on this site in 1784. The hospital was extended several times during the nineteenth century and in 1884 it was granted the title 'Hull Royal Infirmary'. It was demolished in 1972 and replaced with the Prospect Centre shopping centre. Handwritten in pencil on the back is 'Mr Harrison Jr'. Ink and wash on paper. Signed bottom left corner.
