- Drawing of Whitefriargate in Hull, looking towards the Wilberforce Monument and Mounment Bridge, by Frederick Schultz Smith (1860-1925), about 1890. The offices of Hull Packet and Times premises are on the left in the foreground, with the premises of James Pearce, watch maker, and the shop of Marris, Willows and Smith, drapers and silk merchants net to that. On the right stands the offices of Eastern Morning News and Hull Express, with the Red Lion public house next door with a sign for Archibald & Stoole, stationers, above. The pavements are busy with pedestrians, with a horse-drawn tram coming down the road on the right. Ink and wash on paper.
