- Illustration from 'Kingstoniana' by Alderman John Symons, first published in 1889, with a lithograph portrait of Captain John Gravill of the whaler Diana. The head and shoulders portrait shows him wearing a coat, waistcoat and black cravat. Captain Gravill, along with many of the crew, died when the whaling vessel Diana became trapped in the Arctic ice in 1866. The lithographer was Abraham Johnson of Hull.
