- Brief Description:
- Satirical line and watercolour wash drawing entitled 'General Staff of the 3rd Grade' by Edward Jeffrey Irving Ardizzone (1900-1979), 1944. Two British officers in summer army uniforms of kakhi shorts, shirts and long socks, one with large red nose and the other with dark moustache smoking a pipe, facing each other and sitting at an office table with a telephone on the left and waste basket below it on the right. There is a map of the Mediterranean on the wall behind them and other papers stuck to the wall with a tall cabinet on the right. Inscribed below in pen '3's General Staff Officers of the 3rd Grade'.
