- Watercolour marine in blue grey wash tones, of the rescue of an East Indiaman merchant ship after a storm at sea, seen from the stern end, with balconied mullioned saloon windows, carved deckside and Merchant Navy ensign blown onto the deck, while the main mast has been broken off at the top and is leaning over the bow deck, while other masts are missing completely and the crew is gathered at the bow deckside, looking towards the barque which is moored to the deckside in stormy sea. A ship's boat can be seen sailing between the Indiaman towards the barque with rescued crew members. The barque is seen in starboard profile with three masts and sails down and crowded with crew over the decks, a piece of wreckage from the Indiaman floating in the left foreground.
