- Brief Description:
- Roman lead ingot or pig, inscribed SOCIOR.LVT.BR.EX.ARG ('product of the Lutudarensian partners; British lead from the lead-silver works'). Found during the excavation of a 'borrow pit' or quarry by the Yorkshire Ouse and Hull River Authority at Faxfleet, near Broomfleet, East Yorkshire, in 1967 (Site Code: Fax B).

- Cast lead pig with very worn surfaces, particularly on one angled side. Sandy-grey in colour. The inscription on the short face (the base as cast) reads SOCIOR LVT BR EX ARG which can be expanded to SOCIOR[VM] LVT[VDARENSIVM] BR[ITANNICVM] EX ARG[ENTARIIS]. This can be translated as: 'product of the Lutudarensian partners; British lead from the lead-silver works'. Lutudaron may refer to the Derbyshire lead-mining district as a whole.
