- Painting entitled 'Gossips, Lorraine' by Henri Blahay (1869-1927), 1911. Post impressionist scene of the back yard of a traditional Lorraine house, where a young woman with chestnut hair in a bun, wearing a white shirt and bodice, with striped skirt, holding a baby, and seated on a stool outside a shuttered window with a gernanium in a pot on a brick window sill and lace curtains on the inside of the window. She is seated opposite two older women in plain shirts, skirts and aprons with white bonnets tied under the chin holding up their hair, one of them wearing spectacles, they both look with interest at the young woman and baby while a patrician man dressed in black with a wide brimmed black hat, moustache and pipe, leans over the back of the chair, looking down at the the woman seated in the foreground, smiling, in a black and white checked shirt. Oil on canvas.
