- Brief Description:
- Ornate gilt framed painting on panel of marine scene on the Humber of two keels a sloop on the far left and an old 'wooden wall' ship on the far right. Keel sailors clearly visible in the foreground and the wooden panels and railings of the curving hull, both in sail, while the ships beyond are with sails up on the right and the sloop on the left at half mast, with storm clouds above over choppy water and a flat shoreline on the horizon; with a twin funnelled steamer sailing at the far left and a lighthouse on the far right. The large 'wooden wall' is possibly the naval training ship, 'Southampton' and the composition may be a later rendition of a lost original work by Henry Redmore. Signed, J.D.A. 1912, at the bottom left in red.
