- Oil on canvas of Whalers in the Arctic, portside view of a three masted whaler in full sail, with a signal flag of blue with a red spot at the stern and red streamer on the main mast top, with whale boats and whaling crews rowing to the left shore and standing officers at the helm, the black bodies of whales visible in the water behind. To the right is a three quarters stern view of another three masted whaler, fully rigged with sails furled and red streamer at the main mast top, and its whale boats and crews being lowered into the water at the hull side from the central open deckside where sailors can be seen standing on deck. Ice covered shoreline at the right foreground with other whalers sailing on the horizon.
