- Brief Description:
- Entrance to the Old Harbour, Hull attributed to Robert Willoughby (1768-1843), about 1830. Shows the entrance to the Old Harbour with a ship entering the River Hull, the South Blockhouse in the background. The three-masted ship flies a Dutch flag at the top of the fore mast with a Merchant Navy red ensign at the stern. The ship is sailing past the Citadel at the harbour side, on the other side a pier with a moored ship, its stern being repaired. There are also smaller ships moored at the pier and a shack at the pier side, with a group of people watching the ship entering port. The title is on a gold plaque at the bottom. In a rectangular frame but picture displayed under a gilt oval cut-out. Oil on canvas.
