- Two three masted whale ships with sails up in the arctic surrounded by icebergs, the foreground ship with deckside panel down for the loading of whale meat and blubber on board from the crew who are flensing the whale carcass in the water below, whale boats with whaling crews in the foreground and two figures hunting on the ice in the right foreground. The central ship has a blue ensign with white spot, and a red pennant on the main mast, one of the whaleboats has a blue and red striped flag at the prow.
