- Framed, unglazed painting of the Hull whaleship, 'DIANA' beset in ice, by R Widdas, December 1866, with view of the ship leaning over on its keel to the left, covered in ice, while the crew unload provisions and set up a tent in the foreground to camp on the ice, with figures outside the erected tent with cooking pots and a small dog amongst the other sacks and barrels, while other figures in the background pull the whaling boats onto the ice and others unload barrels from the ships side. Blocks of ice surround the open space at the centre and the sky is a pinkish brown above. Originally owned by the cooper for the voyage (J. Allen). Modern reproduction frame with applied decorative corners and metallic painted finish.
