- Brief Description:
- Issue No. 96, Volume III, of 'The Saturday Magazine' published in December 1833 'under the direction of the Committee of General Literature and Education, appointed by the Society For Promoting Christian Knowledge'. It has an article entitled 'A Further Account Of The Arctic Regions, and of the expeditions undertaken for the discovery of a North-West Passage from the Atlantic to the Pacific'. It gives an account of what is known as 'The Coppermine Expedition' of 1819-1822, an overland expedition led by John Franklin to survey the Hudson Bay and Coppermine River area of the Canadian Arctic as part of the Royal Navy's seach for the Northwest Passage. The text is based on Franklin's own account published in 1823. An engraving on the front page has the caption 'Winter Travelling On The Great Slave Lake. From Franklin's Narrative'. The magazine was published by John William Parker, West Strand, London.
