Brief Description:
Printed handbill issued by the Hull solicitors, Martin & Scholefield, on 26th December 1814. It has the headline 'Stolen' and offers a reward of five guineas for information about the theft of rope and cordage from the whaling ships Lord Wellington, Perseverance, Shannon and 'several other Greenland Ships' while lying in the Old Harbour at Hull. The reward will be paid on the conviction of the perpetrators by the 'Committee of Owners of Greenland Ships belonging to the Port of Hull'. The handbill was printed by William Ross, Bowlalley Lane, Hull. Both sides of the sheet have been reused for handwritten notes. The front has lists of the cost of transactions in 1815 and 1816, while the reverse has copies of letters sent in 1815.
