- Fundraising pamphlet issued by Edward Gibson, Chairman of the Hull 'Owners of Ships employed in the Davis' Straits Whale Fishery', on 22nd December 1835. He asks for subscriptions to support the fund to equip an expedition to the Arctic to relieve the whaling vessels beset in the ice. The front page has 'copies of Memorials to the Lords of the Admiralty, their Lordships' Answers, and of Resolutions passed at Meetings in Hull on the subject'. He states that 'their Lordships have also signified to the Greenland Owners, their determination to send out early in January two Government Ships, additionally fortified for taking the ice'. He adds that 'Captain James Ross has put the Cove in commission, and it is hoped she will be ready to sail early next week'. A handwritten list of subscribers appears inside and includes pledges from Hull Trinity House, the Corporation of Hull and the Dock Company.
