- âThe Wellington Coachâ (The Newcastle-York-London Mail) by John Cordrey (1765-1825), about 1818. Oil on panel of a coach and four dappled grey horses, blinkered and driven by two men on the front. Three passengers sit behind with luggage (mail) and two men at the back. Trees in background. Cordrey's paintings always show the coaches travelling from right to left.
