- Brief Description:
- Drawing of De la Pole House, High Street by Frederick Schultz Smith (1860-1925), about 1880. The de la Pole house was noted for its elaborately carved figures, visile along the eaves of the building and flanking the main doorway. Over the door is a sign for the Ferry Inn. An advert for 'The Three Musketeers' play at the Royal Theatre is posted on the end of the building. The de la Pole building was taken down in 1882 and a new building built on the same site using some of the timber decoration. Ink and wash on circular paper. Signed bottom left.
