- Brief Description:
- High Street looking south near the Corn Exchange drawn by Frederick Schultz Smith (1860-1925), about 1880. The building on the left was used as offices by, among others, a firm of corn merchants. Men in formal office dress wearing top hats can be seen at the building entrance. Next door is a warehouse, built in 1829 for William Walker, warehouse keeper and iron merchant. The premises of Rayment & Sharp ships' chandlers can just be seen opposite on the left. The street is busy with pedestrians and a horse-drawn rully heavily ladden with barrels. Pencil on paper.
