- Opening of the Hull Electric Tramway, St John's Street, drawn by Frederick Schultz Smith (1860-1925), 1899. Streetscene depicting the occasion of the Opening of the Hull Electric Tramway with a procession of three trams watched by a large crowd, flags and bunting strung across Waterworks Street. The electric trams were an imediate success, carrying four million passengers in the first month. Wilberforce Monument stands in the background of the drawing. On the right is the Punch Hotel, rebuilt on this site in 1896 from its earlier site in Waterhouse Lane. Ink and wash on paper.
