- Brief Description:
- Trippett, showing the cobbled road, drawn by Frederick Schultz Smith (1860-1925), 1883. Streetscene depicting Trippett (the southern end of Wincolmlee) undergoing road repairs, with a man tending a tar boiler in the left foreground and a pair of men further away digging up the cobbles. The building on the left, behind the clothes line, is probably part of St George's Mill, a seed crushing mill operated by Willows Holt & Willows. On the right is the Gate Inn public house with its curious sign, run by landlord Thomas Walsh. The masts of ships on the River Humber are just visible in the distance. Ink and wash on paperr. Signed and dated bottom left.
