- Brief Description:
- High Flags, Wincolmlee, from the corner of Green lane and Lincoln Street drawn by Frederick Schultz Smith (1860-1925), 1888. High Flags, where the flagged pavement is literally high above the road, marks the outfall into the River Hull of two agricultural drains, the Beverley and Barmstone Drain and the Cottingham Drain. Both drains pass under the road at this point. The masts of a ship can be seen in the River Hill beyond the wall on the left. In the street on the right can be seen the distinctive sign of three gold balls that marks William Wright's pawnbroker's shop. Ink and wash on paper. Signed and dated bottom left.
