- River Hull looking east towards Drypool Basin, Victoria Dock and St Peter's Church, Drypool. drawn by Frederick Schultz Smith (1860-1925), 1884. St Peter's Church tower is visible in the centre background. Built in 1822 it was destroyed during the second world war in 1941. Timber yards surround the church. The large house to the left on the north side of the lockpit was the home and office of the Dock Master. The tower of the Hydraulic Pumping Station No 3, which was built in 1879-1880, can be seen on the left. The station powered the operation of the lock gates. Various hips, including keels, sloops and the harbout tug 'Edith' can be seen in the foreground. The steam paddle tug 'Toby', seen in the right foreground, was owned by Thomas Gray and registered in Hull in 1883. Ink and wash on paper.
