- Pencil drawing of Manor Alley Low Church and Old Gas House, by Frederick Schultz Smith (1860-1925), 1902. It shows Manor Alley during the construction of Alfred Gelder Street, before the new Post Office buildings were built. A row of buildings with the chapel on the left and the entrance to Manor Square on the right. St Mary's Church, Lowgate can be seen in the background on the far left. The row of buildings were exposed with the demolition of the buildings on the north side of the alley the south side of Leadenhall Square. This was a notorius 'red light' district in the 19th century. A man stands on the pavement in the centre foreground. Written in pencil on the back 'Manor Alley, Low Church and old gas house'. Also sketches of a man, man on bicycle and a horse, on back.
