- Pen and ink drawing of the new Shambles and Market Hall on Market Place by Frederick.Schultz Smith (1860-1925), 1887. The building stands on a corner. It has a tower at each end and three Dutch-style gable ends on the front. Three mock-Tudor gable ends are also shown next to the right-hand tower. Various shops exist as part of the elaborate frontage, including C T Smith, Boards and Blackburn, each separated by classical style columns. Various figures walk along the pavement in front of the building. Two horse-drawn carriages are on the cobbled street in the foreground of the picture. Tramlines can also be seen in the foreground. The drawing is signed and dated by the artist in the lower left corner.
