- Holderness Road from Witham drawn by Frederick Schultz Smith (1860-1925), 1887. Streetscene depicting the entrance to Holderness Road. On the corner of Dansom Lane on the left, marked by a flagpole, is the Holderness Hotel. Next to it, with sn open awning, is the butcher's shop of John Thompson. On the opposite side of Dansom Lane with a pillar letter box outside is the curved frontage of No 1 Holderness Road, Dixon Brothers grocers shop. In the centre background is the Presbyterian Church. The long curved terrace on the right is built in front of the octagonal tower of the Blockhouse Mill. The mill and houses date back to at least the late eighteenth century and was demolished about 1898 during the construction of Clarence Street. Ink and wash on paper. Signed and dated bottom right corner.
