- The Plotting Chamber in the Olde White Harte Inn, Hull, drawn by Frederick Schultz Smith (1860-1925), about 1900. Interior of a wood-pannelled walls with an ornately decorated fireplace on the far wall. There are seating areas with tables and chairs to left and right. A lamp with three globe shades hangs from the ceiling. The Plotting Parlour is traditionally the place where Sir John Hotham (c 1589-1645) and his councillors decided to refuse King Charles I entry to Hull in April 1642. A bright patch on the carpet in the left foreground indicates sunlight from a window. Ink and wash mounted on card, signed bottom right corner.
