There are pictures of mermaids with mirrors at each corner of the plaque. The main picture shows a whaling scene, with a Greenland right whale rising from the water, being attacked by a whaleboat with five men, and another whale in the foreground being attacked. There is a starboard profile of a whaling ship and iceburgs in the background.
