Bartolomeo Cavaceppi was an Italian sculptor who ran a prolific workshop in Rome in the 18th Century. As a place for selling his own works, as well as restoration and genuine antiquities, Cavaceppiâs workshop was one of the most famous stops in Italy for British tourists on the Grand Tour. Cavaceppi made many works in the style of the ancient Greeks and Romans and as he rarely signed his works, many were mistaken for the genuine article. Cavaceppi also worked as restorer to Pope Clement XI at the Museo Clementino.
