Portrait of King Charles I
The main type from which the Ferensâ picture is derived is in itself based on the Daniel Mytens (1590-1648) portrait in Durham Town Hall. The date of this rather crude portrait is indeterminate. It is likely to have been made after Charles became King in 1625 as when Prince of Wales he did not have a beard or moustache.
