In comparison with Wilson's Italian Landscape with stone pine, this picture lacks freshness. This is because it is one of the several replicas executed by the artist after he had produced the successful original for his Welsh patron Sir Watkin Williams Wynn in 1771. In spite of its relative formality the picture still portrays the picturesque grandeur of North Wales.
