Miss Isobel Dacre

Francis Dodd studied in Glasgow and travelled widely on the continent. He was a painter of portraits, landscapes and genre scenes as well as being an etcher. He exhibited numerous works at the Royal Academy. The sitter, Miss Isobel Dacre, was herself a landscape and figure painter who exhibited work from 1880-1929. Although the style of this portrait is somewhat conventional, it is given added interest by the sitter's pose: she turns as if distracted by someone entering the room.
