The trial of William Lord Russell

This copy is one of the few pictures bought by the Ferens under Vincent Galloway that seems to have no local connection or relevance to the Ferensâ collection. The trial and subsequent execution of Lord Russell on trumped up charges was one of the humiliating events of political life in the last years of the reign of King Charles II.
