A Good Little Model
Gogin painted genre and figurative subjects, portraits and landscapes. He exhibited mainly in London and showed fourteen works at the Royal Academy between 1874 and 1894. His mother Alma (fl.1895-98), who presented this painting to the gallery, was also an artist. Nothing is known of the somewhat sullen sitter in this sketchy portrait other than that she was âa good little modelâ!
