Grace Darling Sunderland-ware jug

The ship Forfarshire set off from Hull for Scotland in 1838. It never reached its destination. The Forfarshire was shipwrecked off the coast of Northumberland. William and Grace Darling, a lighthouse keeper and his daughter, rowed into the storm to try to save the people on board. Grace and William knew they might not get back alive. They would need survivors to help them row their small boat back in the rough sea. Nine people were saved by their bravery. This jug is inscribed with the poem: "My heart is fix'd, I cannot range, I love my choice, Too well to change."
