This banner is painted on silk by Richard Dodd Widdas. The banner represents the shipwrights of Hull. This was a changing time for shipwrights as some worked on wood and others in iron. This huge banner measures 3.5 metres (11ft 6") by 2.8 metres (9 ft 2"). It is probably the most remarkable work by Hull artist Richard Dodd Widdas. It was painted the same year as his death in 1885.
