Moonlight scene with a windmill

Abraham Pether was a specialist in moonlight scenes, often with topographical interest. Although this picture comes from the same collection as another work in the Ferens' said to be by Pether, there is no reason that they should be considered together as their dimensions differ. This picture seems a more original but still Dutch 17th century-based work. Current comparison with photographs of the work of all the Pether family does not result in any convincing stylistic relationship. The picture seems to be of 18th century origin.
